Rio Olympics Blog — Day Twenty-two: The end is near

People congregate in the Olympic Park in Rio de Janerio, Brazil

The end is almost here.

With basically nothing to do on Friday, it started to hit me that the Olympics are almost over. In less than 48 hours, the games will come to a close, the flame extinguished and everyone starts to head home. And 48 hours after that, we begin our trek back to the states.

Man what a ride it has been.

Saturday will be the last big event I’ll be at for the Olympics. I’ll be heading down to Rio Fest 2016 to watch Brazil face Germany for the men’s soccer gold medal in the evening for one final story from Rio. It’ll either be a party or the saddest place in South America. Either way it’ll be entertaining and exciting for this neutral.
