Hey there and welcome to my website!
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jacob Martella, and I am a web developer. Currently I work at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth as a web dev.
I also do freelance web dev work. I primarily help small businesses tell their story online, either through creating a website, helping to manage the technical side of a website or through teaching them about websites through blog posts, videos and other resources.
I also focus on WordPress development as well. I have a handful of WordPress plugins and themes in the respective WordPress.org repository, and am building premium WordPress products as well.
But, believe it or not, I have other interests outside of web development.
Actually for most of my life I wanted to be a sports journalist, and my degree from the University of Texas is in journalism. I spent four years there working at The Daily Texan and even got to cover the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janiero (which you can read my daily blogs here).
And even as I’ve moved on to web development, I’ve kept a pretty good passion for photography alive and well and love taking photos of the things I see around me. A lot of the posts you’ll probably see here will be filled with photos.
As time goes on and I’m able to get out more post-pandemic, I hope to take a lot of great photos of the things I see around me.
And just to clear up any confusion amongst the many URLs I have that all look the same, jacobmartella.com is the website for my freelancing work, devblog.jacobmartella.com is my development blog where I go in detail about code and other things web development, and here is where I’m going to post more about my life outside of web development.
So I hope you join me along for this ride in life. If you want to stay up-to-date with everything, you can follow me at one of the social media links down in the footer or on this page or you can use the form at the bottom of the page to get every post emailed to you.
But I hope all is going well for you, and welcome to my website!
