Evan Jager Wins First American Men’s Steeplechase Medal Since 1984

Evan Jager did more than just grab a silver medal in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase on August 17. He made history, becoming the first American to earn a medal in the event since Brian Diemer at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. I wrapped that, plus the scene of him running and coming across the line second and his emotions into a 600-word story. It turned out to be one of the best stories I wrote during the Olympics.
