Portafoglio
Client: Crosswinds Framework
Date: December 5, 2023
Category: WordPress Themes
The Portafoglio theme was the first WordPress premium block theme I built, and it really taught me a lot about how to create block themes.
In addition to the design challenges for crafting a good theme for a freelancer’s website, I also had to learn how to create a block theme in general. I learned that the process has to be different for block themes.
Instead of spending the vast majority of my time in PHP and CSS, I need to build out patterns and template parts in the block and site editors first and copy them over to the theme files. And to be honest, I find that a lot more fun than writing PHP and hoping that works while reloading the page constantly.
The end result was a wonderful theme that works for any freelancer, whether they are a photographer, videographer, writer, designer or work in another field. And I became a much better WordPress block theme developer.
